Architecture Career Talk
This week, Year 12 students had the opportunity to attend a career talk on architecture, delivered by a former Harris Westminster student and alumnus of the Harris Federation. He studied Architecture at the University of Nottingham, where he later completed his Master’s degree in the same field.
The talk covered various career pathways in architecture, including the traditional route—completing a BA (Hons) in Architecture (Part 1), gaining practical experience, followed by a March (Part 2), further work experience, and finally, a PgCert (Part 3) to qualify as an architect. Alternatively, students learned about the apprenticeship route, which offers an integrated approach to becoming a qualified architect.
Additionally, the speaker emphasised the importance of work experience, perseverance, and enjoying the creative process. Students also gained insights into the entry requirements for architecture programs and the skills necessary for success in the field
